NANCY WILSON Has 'A Lot Of Song Ideas' For HEART's Next Release
November 25, 2019HEART guitarist Nancy Wilson has confirmed to Ultimate Classic Rock that there are plans for the band to make new music in 2020. It will mark HEART's first fresh material since 2016's "Beautiful Broken" LP, which contained a mix of new songs and re-imagined versions of the band's classic album cuts.
"I've got a lot of song ideas in my head and in my notes on my phone, and [I've been] singing into my phone," Nancy explained. "So I think that new HEART material would be really great, because the last album we did was [2016's] 'Beautiful Broken', [where] we kind of redid some of our favorite [songs from HEART's catalog]."
HEART toured North America this past summer after a nasty split that kept the Wilson sisters estranged for three years. According to Nancy, there are plans for HEART to return to the road in 2020, hitting some of the cities that weren't included in this year's itinerary.
"I think the next smart move would be to get some new HEART stuff going and then take it out on the road again," she said. "But not the same shed tour. Canada wants us up there ... and probably some European dates and some other festivals and stuff like that. Things that don't imitate what we just did."
Ann and Nancy had a falling out during HEART's 2016 tour, when Ann's husband Dean Welter was arrested for assaulting Nancy's then-16-year-old twin sons in a backstage altercation at a gig near their hometown of Seattle. He pleaded guilty to two lesser assault charges to avoid jail time.
After completing HEART's 2016 tour, Nancy formed a new band called ROADCASE ROYALE and released an album, "First Things First". ROADCASE ROYALE featured three members of HEART along with Liv Warfield from Prince's NEW POWER GENERATION band and her guitarist Ryan Wilson.
Ann's 2018 solo album, "Immortal", contained cover versions of classic songs by artists who have passed away.
